Many reasons. Sometimes too many hunters for too little land. Too few deer. Too many houses around.

Like Southern WV they have had thier gun season closed for years. Everybody there wants to gun hunt, and not as many bucks as thier used to be.

some places(like where I live) are very flat, and the bullet may travel to far and hit something you dont want to.

I was curious about the closed season in Arkansas, so I went to the state game and fish website. I can't find where it was/is closed. As a matter of fact, the proposed 2006-2007 regulations are already on the website and gun season is in the works. If the poster is really curious about the gun seasons, I would suggest contacting the Arkansas Game and Fish Dept. for his info.

G O N, i really think you need to get a agfc hand book and read it. arkansas is sectioned by zones with different season dates rules and regulations. i believe their are some wma's that are not open for modern gun this year, and some zones are respecting the 3 point rule, 4 point rule and the 4x4 slot. it would be to your advantage pick up a book and know what your doing before a conservation officer lets you know your doing something wrong.
