a big buck to me is a mature buck. I have seen a 5 year old 6 pointer that would have scored 140 inches. To me that was a monster buck for a 6 pointer. I have seen 3/1/2 year old10 pointers that were 120 inchs that were nice deer but had the capibility of being 160 inches so they were not monsters to me.

Again it is all relative to personal perception and area. Whatever is big to you, then that is all that really matters!

nick, very true but as I tell my partner "Meat only lasts a year but antlers they last a Lifetime!!!"

BTW I like both but neither are required for me to enjoy the hunt. I figure both are the icing on the cake.

Something about body size that gets my blood pumping. Don't get me wrong I'm all into big wide racks. But racks are racks. You can have very big racks on young deer. There's nothing like seeing that dude stomping around the woods and you know he's boss. He's a big old mature bruiser. The one that looks like a cow with a rack coming towards you. So I'd give up a little on the score in trade of maturity and body size if that's what it boiled down to.

I want mass, and more mass. I'll take a 50# deer with 200 inches of mass as opposed to a two hundred pound spike. I can always get another tag for a meat deer but 200 inches doesn't come walking by to often, or at least in my case.
