Doc, you do crack me up!Once again, I really wish I could make that get together down south but quite frankly funding my Alberta hunt must come first. Surely you know where I'm coming from.

Very large and scary snake, but I don't buy the dimensions. He is holding the snake at least 3 feet closer to the camera at the end of that pole which makes it look bigger. Ask any fisherman that trick. Also, 91 lbs held that far away from your body on the end of pole is hard to swallow.

Maybe it's just me, but whether a snake is on the Texas endangered species isn't going to stop me from killing them if I stumble upon one, and we have a lot here. I killed a copperhead mowing my lawn a few months ago! Here's a pick of the rattler my uncle killed when he stumbled upon it in the dark...it's no moster like that one but scary enough to make me crap my pants if I see it.

lol, I used to be fearless of em(tho I still didn't like em). Heck I remember many moons ago when I was 16 I tried to kill a cottonmouth with my skining knife!!! [:-]He was lying in the sun coiled up on the bank of a pond I was fishing in at the time. I saw him before he heard (or felt if I understand the way they work) me. I grabbed my knife, got loooooooow on the ground and "stalked" the damned thing. My hand was within about 1.5' of his head when he suddenly "jumped" into the water and was gone. She was about a 3'er. I look back now and think, "WTF was you thinkin Rambo?" I hate to imagine what woulda happend had that fat black gal wheeled around and got me.
As for rattlers, TX is LOADED with em. I hunted on The Encinitos a couple times in 99 and the opening weekend of rifle season it was about 70 degrees. A guide and I were belly crawling through the grass along the edge of a ranch road trying to close the distance on a buck at near dark. The whole time I was doing it I was thinking solely of that buck. I had on a brown Harley T-shirt, blue jeans and my snake boots that I turkey hunt with. (I DID get the buck lol) But the next morning I was in a local gas station and they had a diamondback skin on the wall behind the counter that was HUUUUUUUUUGE. Then it HIT ME LIKE A TON OF BRICKS! Holly sheezus, those critters are crawlin around out there in the brush and there we were belly crawlin near dark yesterday. [:'(]I spent the rest of the time in the high rack atop the truck!!!
Lets just say that ANYTIME I see ANYKIND of snake and I am armed, I don't care what kind of list it may or may not be on, I am about to shorten that list at that particular moment!
