RE: scent glans........
If you're fortunate enough to have a cooler/reefer to hang it in and let it age a week or two then it's best to leave the hide on the deer until you're ready to butcher it.

i have never ran into the problem of the tarsal glands making the deer meat taste bad but if its a rutting buck i like to cut them off and use them to my advantage as an attractant.
