Default 214 class buck

Hello all, I have a story that I wanted to tell you guys. I took my buck to the taxidermy yesterday and got to talking about where I live in the city with the guy. Well he told me, well heck you should just hunt out of your backyard you have huge deer in there. He then told me about a guy who was bow hunting near my house who shota huge double brow tine, drop tine buck but never found it. He said this buck ran behind a grocery store here in town and died and two kids found it. The conservationist gave the kids a salvage tag so they could get the buck mounted. The hunter found this out and is trying to get the buck back through the courts. I told him that I have pics of that buck from two years ago. The taxidermist said he knows the guy and will get pics of the buck. He said the buck scored 214!! I'll post the pics of the buck when he sends it to me. Here he is two years ago.

What makes this hunter think it is his deer. He made a slop shot ,did not have either the skill or will to find it. My deer tag says KILL tag ,not slop shot tag.

Ah yes, and afternoon deer hunt turned into messy legal battle. Gotta love it.

Now it might be alittle different if the guy was still looking for it, and the kids found it first, but it doesn't sound that way.

It's a 'kill' tag, not a 'wound' tag.

That's the problem with hunting in the suburbs. Lots of deer and big ones at that. However, there are houses, roads and safety zones all over the place. I think about that when I'm bow hunting the burbs -"I sure hope he goes down right away. If not, please let him run away from that neighborhood back there".

Well thats a nice buck and I am by no means a pro scorer but that buck would have had to grown a LOT since those picturesto score 214 IMHO....OH don't they say possession is 9/10 of the law ...sounds to me he may should have been a little more persistant when tracking him ...had I shot a buck with a bow or rifle that scored over 200 I would have tracked him so hard and so long that Domino's would have to deliver to the woods ...

Well I would say in that pic that Bruiser was a 150 class deer at 3 1/2 years old. I could definately see him being that buck with two more years of growth but I don't know for sure if it is him yet..still waiting on the pics. He definatly has the environment to grow and has plenty to eat year round with very limited predators. But we'll see. You are right about the poor shot placement. The taxidermist said he hit him almost in the ass and that buck went about a mile away to the store.
