Default Disappointing Find

Well I got bad newsthe other night when my sister called and said one of our coonhounds hadbroke its chain and gotten loose. After 3 days of unsuccessfully looking for himall over the woods we started to give up hope. On my way back home I looked down a hill and saw a bunch of bones laying around. As I approached it I started seeing some white hair too and looked to my left and there was a real nice 8 point rack.

I didn't see this deer all year, but it must of been shot by a late archery hunter, since there was still quite a bit of hair on the deer. It was 18 inches inside, and it's G2's were both 7 1/2 inches. A very nice 2 1/2 year old. I don't have a digital camera so I have no way (or idea how) to post some pics.

That stinks that you found a dead deer. Was there any other type of sign as to why the deer died? Could he have been hit by a car or possibly been shot earlier? I only ask because I recovereda 6 pt rack two octobers ago with an area covered of hair. He would have had to been killed almost a year ago, but there was a large amount of hair around. I think you would be surprised on how long hair can stay near the deer. Also if the bones were cleaned off, that would lead me to believe that he had been laying around a while. Non-the-less, that stinks that he was killed and never recovered and given the respect he deserves.

On another note, did you happen to find your dog yet? I hope you find him soon and he is ok.

There was quite a bit of white hair laying around on the ground and all of his legs were still covered with hair. Most of his bones had been picked clean by coyotes, but his skull still had some hair on it and he smelt TERRIBLE.

And nope ol' Fritz is still missing.

Sorry about the deer, but I would be more concerned about the dog.

I'm far from giving up looking for Fritz, but after looking overalmost 2,000 acres the last 3 days things aren't looking good. I didn't elaborate with my dog missing, since this was the deer hunting forum. Just wanted to share my find of the buck.
