Has anybody hunted around the curtis area and the Seney National forest. Looking to hunt that area next gun season, guy I talked with said second week is best- true or not. We have hunted west of there in Stonington and haven't had any problem the first week filling tags. Any info would be appreciated.

I hunt the Escanaba area and I hunt the second week. It is very good, the weather is usually a little colder, but it gets the deer moving and they a rutting like crazy. I absolutely love it!

Been hunting Stonington for 12 yrs, and have done well, but our hunting grounds are being divided up and we may have to move camp. This guy has cabins only in Curtis area, but is close to Seney Forest and I think DNR just bought 1400 acres around that area. He says there are few hunters and lots of deer. Looks as though no doe permits (freezer fillers)for that area though.

I love the public land that no one even knows about up there! It is a great place!
