Here is a picture of my 2005 buck that I shot in South Dakota. My goal for the year was to shoot a buck that was at least a 5x5. I have shot one deer in my life that was a 5x5 but he was really small. My first deer was a 5x4 and he was my biggest for the longer time, then in 2004 I shot a 4x4 that was bigger, and then this past hunting season I shot this big boy. He scored right aroung 160-165. He is really tall, but only 14" wide inside. I wasn't able to get any field photos because he was shot right at sundown. I was able to get the horns for a couple weeks from the taxidermist.

I don't have pictures of the horns on the buck. I wish I could shoot a deer in the AM then I can have good light to take a picture. By the time I got to him it was pretty dark (he went over a little knoll and died, had a hard time findinghim in the grass with the pickup lights). When I get the mount back I'm gonna take some pictures outside with him. I don't know what he weighed. It was weird, everyone asks if he was very old, but I don't think he was. I shot a buck last year that was much grayer, but definetly not as big. Hopefully this year I can find something big again. My goal is to find something with some character (nontypical points).
