Because of Rita, and work, I didn't get to hunt much at all, much less during the rut!
I've always done good during the rut though, and our second rut is usually between Christmas, and New Years! Florida's rut times must be later than East Tex.

I hunt mainly in the Troy area and they are just starting to work scrapes hard. Years ago I hunted just west of Eufaula and the bucks tended to rut in Dec. From now till the end of the season is definitely the best time in our area.

Not too great for me in NY. Actually one of the worst seasons I remember for seeing rutting activity. Combination of A LOT of high winds, unusual warm days, and the timing of the full moonhad them doing their thing mainly at night.

I like this outlook! I guess this is why I don't work around or during the rut!

Was great for me, saw lots of action...but then totally BLEW an easy shot. [:@] At least he's doing okay, and the arrow wound seems to have healed (watched him through binos since)
