Is the rutting activity starting to heat up? I will be in Alabama next week near the Goodwater area and was wondering if the rutting signs are picking up and are bucks chasing?

In Alabama you never know. In Pike County where we hunt the bucks are just starting to scrape and nobody in our club has seen a buck chasing a doe yet. In the Goodwater area it may be a complete different situation though.

Ive seen very little evidence of rut activity yet up in north Alabama either ..but this warm snap and all the wind has not helped any ...

This year has been unusual. I have been seeing active scrapes for about 3 weeks. I am yet to see a buck with or around a doe. I've been seeing 8-10 does a day and they are not acting like they are ready to breed. I am still seeing does with their yearlings, which they usually push away when they want to breed. This was all as late as Jan. 9th so who knows. I'm hunting in West Alabama.

with the full moon on the 14th, and the warm weather, i'd say around the 18th or 20th,no one really knows, but i'm off work til the 2nd of feb, and i'll be in the woods everyday. good luck to all.
