RE: Meat or Trophies

used to take anything, until my 14 year old son started hunting with me when he was 9. He puts the meat on the table and now i trophy hunt. I took a 162" gross this year with a Muzzle loader. He took 3 deer this year, a doe with shotgun, a doe with muzzle loader, and a spike with his bow (his first bow kill, a clean double lung pass thru) I was more proud of him with his first bow kill than i was with my trophy!

I hunt for deer- let the small ones walk depending on the area I am hunting, if its State Land (public) I might take a smaller buck. I also shoot does for the freezer , my sportsmans club or hunters against hunger. I have taken does 4 1/2, 6 1/2 and 9 1/2 years old and they can be sneakysometimes more so than many bucks, after all who taught the bucks what to look out for.

i hunt for trophy's...naturally! however, since i don't hunt on private property or leases (only public land), if it's legal....it's dead.
