Hit'em in the head with a .17, Ibet they won't run far. But I wouldn't do that cuz its breaking the law.

you guys are thinking too small and simple. Cannons, now we're talking. give me a battle ship and I'll launch every bomb that boat carries at one deer. I bet he won' trun far then.

My interest in the 300mag is that it is, by all accounts, an excellent Elk/Bear gun that can double as a deer gun. But then again,I've heard good things about the 7MM mag as a versatile gun too. I have no experience with either, so I am happy to listen to what folks have to say.

great for bear but a bazooka for deer i would use something smaller but you can use the .300 why doesnt anyone ever use 30-30's anymore ya know the american classic the 30-30 has downed more deer than any other rifle ever will

3030s, 243s all those "smaller" calibers, fend off hunters, now days everyone wants the biggest hardest kicking gun. Thats what I wanted, thats why I bought the 7mm. I bought it because of all the ballistic charts I seen on it verses other calibers. there is by far nothing wrong with the 3030, I would have taken mine this year but with my luck I would have seen a deer far off, 100 yards, and its open sites so I wouldn't have been able to hit the deer. the 243, my bro-in-law uses one and kills deer no problem. I love it, its plenty powerful for deer, hardly kicks and ammo is very cheap. Its fun to shoot. My 7mm, hits like a darn sledg hammer, thats one of the many reasons that attracted my attention to it. I like hard kciking guns, but when I am up in my stand, I wish it wouldn't kick so hard. if your going ot bear and elk hunt, than by all means go with a 7mm or 300. I don't know anything about either type of hunting, I am guessing maybe a 3006 would do too. I have a 7mm and there are no bad things about it other than the price of ammo. its very accurate. I can accuratly shoot golf ball size groups at 100 yards with it. I've never had a seconds problem with it what so ever. I've killed every deer with ease that I've shot at with it. the 300 I am sure has more knock down power but how much do you really need? Ppl hunt bear and elk with bows. I am just rambling...........sorry, its late and I have to take a dump. LOL.

Bear and elk, yes, 7mm or 300. Perfect. Deer 7mm or 300 will get the job done and then some. If yoru looking for a smaller caliber, look into the 243 or 270. I am thinking about getting a 243 for next year.

If you think that the 7mmremmag is the biggest hardest kicking gun ,you havevery little experience. The 7mm remmag is actuallyvery moderate in recoil and is easily handled by most shooters.
