I usually use eye and ear protection on the range, but not while hunting. I am thinking about some sort of eye protection while I hunt though.

Last week i was sighting in my new gun and a guy shows up at the range with his 3 year old daughter and his 22mag. He's just sitting at the bench next to me not shooting yet. I go to fire my next round and i notice the little girl does not have on any ear protection. We are the only ones at the range so I say to him that i'll wait until they put thier hearing protection on
He says they dont need any when using a 22 mag. I said that i didnt think that was true but i will be next to you shooting a 243. I offered my extra pair of ear muffs for his girl.
He said no thanks and just sat there. I wouldnt shoot. I just stayed there until he left like 15 minutes later. For him to make a decison about his own hearing by not wearing the protection is one thing but to be that irresponsible in making the decision for his daughter pissed me off. Im not a violent person but i wanted to smack the s*** out of him

I do a lot of skeet & sporting clays shooting so I use both. I even use both when shooting rifles & pistols. With pistols I'll even double up....use ear plugs and muffs...helps a lot.
