ok first of all MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!
i hope everyone is enjoying it i got some money for christmas and im asking you guys what is the best trail cam???? well i am kinda picky so i need atleast 3 of the 4 1.under $150 2.clear pictures 3.FAST trigger speed 4.digital (dont really matter if the other 3 are good ) well i would apriciate it if u would answer plus if u could tell me a spot to buy it it would be great :) have a good christmas |

Sort of like optics, you just about get what you pay for. We bought a bunch of those cheap Stealth and Moultrie cameras and they aren't that great. You get a few good pictures and a bunch of bad ones.

The pictures I have seen here on the forum taken with the LeafRiver Trail Cam, have made me think of buying one!:)

My friend has one on the cheap moultrie's and he got it at walmart for 100 bucks, im just not sure that when its sold a walmart it has the moultrie name on it. Anyways like timbercruiser said he too gets about half blank/bad pics but the other half a always real nice and clear. The bad halfI would say is about 90% empty so maybe the wind or bird trips it and then 10% is butt shots of deer from it being to slow. But I am in your situation to and cannot spend alot of money on a cam and I don't care if i have alot of blank pics cause that is what the delete key is for. So when I get the money I plan on buying a Moultrie's.

yes i baught the walmart moultree trail cam
but i took it back because it had bad quality and it ate batteries like CANDY !!! i am looking for something better please |

I don't think the good digitals are priced that low. If they were I would have 2 and toss my 2 35mm Stealth cameras. I tried one for $88, but the flash range was only 15 feet. The deer on my lease are very nocturnal, so all I got were pix of eyes. The camers was setup 2 feet from a mineral licks, but it would trigger before they got very close.
If you find one for under $200, I'd be interested. I may just bite the bullet and buy the Moultrie night vision camera. It uses IR flash that is not visible. It will not spook the deer al all, no sound , no (visible) flash. It's about $275. |

I would go digital, upgrade the memory card, and Gander Mountain had some good prices before Christmas..........

Save your money & get a Cuddeback. I have 2 Leaf Rivers. Their triggers are slow. If you want an IR cam get a Recon Talon. I have 2 of them. There is a website www.chasingame.com I think that can answer any of your questions.

well there is not much hunting pressure around where i set it up last year

No specifics on brand but go digital. I know I cursed aloud a few times tyhis past season b/c I went cheap and bought a 35mm. Who want to wait for the photos, you want to see them as soon as you check the camera.

I put my moultrie gamespy200 3.1 out yesterday.. I will post the results if I have any pics on it.

Well I got a Moultrie 200 for christmas and it seems to take pretty decent pictures. I have a couple of cuddebacks as well and they are still a better camera but, for the money the Moultrie is pretty darn good. I think my wife paid about 160 bucks for the Moultrie compared to about 300 that paid for the cuddebacks. Get a digital though I wouldn't waste your money on a 35 mm. Good luck

well i dont know if i really need a trail cam
i think that we killed all of the deer back behind my house (where i was gunna put the cam) BUT we were looking for a cow lastnight and i found ALOT of scrapes,rubs, deer crap and odly deer hair i mean there was hair piles everywhere i dunno if something got a deer or not but there was no blood so i dunno i guess i will wait until july and see how much money i have and see what i can do ... |
