Same Ole Song Second Verse DD Scores AGAIN !
 

Well ON A FULL MOONhere's what happened this morning. I hunted a piece of Alabama property about 100 acresthis morning and MAN it was cold.... about 7.00 I saw a doe at about 175 yards ..she was a big heiffer but I let her walk ....at about 7.30 two more does came out and was acting goofy ..you know kinda like they was struting and flirting ..I watched them for about 5 min. when this rascal poked his head out of the woods ..I got my rifle up but he never gave me a decent shot and in just a few min he was back in the woods ..I sat there just watching the two does move my direction ... after about 5 min I decided to hit the grunt tube ...a couple of min went by when another doe came running out of the woods with this guy in tow ..I neck shot him at about 145 yards..not a bad buck forN. Alabama ..7ptabout 150lbs...SOMEBODY'S GOT TO STOP ME ...I'MMM SMOKING!

That isn't his wife that is Mrs. Santa making sure DD didn't turn Rudolph into burger. Only wrong thing with the pic DD is where is the snow? I can here the songs now....I'm waiting for a brown Christmas. Oh no wait DD you got a brown Christmas because if it is brown it is down.:D:D:D

C.I. the reason he was not field dressed in the pictires was because the knife I had was so dull from the other 6 I have had to dress and skin:eek: ...had to wait till I got home to put an edge on it ... BUT is hanging now ..emmmm gonna be some GOOD jerky:D

I am disappointed with you DD. I would have expected that you would just use your teeth and nails. That would make a great intro into the new show. Picture it, the good doc shooting a WILD deer on camera and then running up to the stilltwitching carcass and ripping theinnerds out with just his hands.:DA friend hunted with a guy once that didn't know how to gut one and threw it in his van and left it for 2 days until he could show it off to friends.I don't know much about the southern deer but if that one was here it would look to be a 2 1/2 yr old to me.

Fight4 thank you but Im affraid ole Jackie aint got nuttn to worry about with Doc ... BUT if I can JUST get that new TV show going I might put some heat on his butt ..then I MIGHT get invited to hunt some areas that have REALLY BIG bucks !

Thank you A.P. but obviously these are no yankee MONESTER bucks but they aint bad for this area and yeh I have killed a few in MY time (thus the nick name)... and JAgMan come on down to to Bama buddy there are PLEANTY of deer just not many biggens.

Most of Bama you can kill two a day, one buck and one doe or two does. Long season, it would be legal to kill over 200.

really? Why so many? We are only allowed 1 archery either sex, 1 buck regular season and 1 either sex muzzleloader.. with the opportunity of 2 doe permits in NY... so 5 total here.

Salty here in Alabama we are blessed (if your a hunter ..cursed if your a farmer) with a lot of deer. There are several counties that are projected by DNA to have over 50 deer per square mile although those counties for the most part are in south Alabama in the Black Belt area...we here in north Alabama have about 30 deer per sq mile as compared to a place like Alberta who has 1 deer per sq mile... that is one of the reasons our deer do not get that large body wise is because there is so much compitition for food and there is a lot of enter breeding (deer) ...

Here in NY the fruit farmers often obtain nuisance permits to thin the heards to keep the damage to a minimum

the "Black Belt" area is where the black dirt is ...the richer soil and where most the crops are raised in Alabama ...up north we have a lot of red clay ...but here is where most the cotton comes from.

Hey DD if you let them go they will grow bigger. Im sure that buck didnt reach his peak yet because you had an itchy trigger finger and shot him. If you shoot them they will NEVER get bigger.

T.T. thank you for your advice I guess I would NEVER have thought of that seeing as how I have such little hunting experence but I am going to start managing this VAST100acers (60 being pasture)I have so we can grow some Boonies...then I might even start a guide service and sell hunts on Ebay for thisMOSNTER buck infested 100 acres.... That is if the guys next to us in the trailer park don'tspot light'em and kill'em first ..or the guyson the twobordering farms don't ambush them .. or the road hunters ...yep your right T.T. I need to let them walkso they can get mature ... MAN I CAN'T BELEIVE I didnt think of that thanks Bud...now if this sounds like it has a little sarcasm laced into it ..it does ..I would LOVE for someone to be able to explain to me how you can deermanage small tracts of land like this short of high fence ... it EASY for someone who does not have to hunt these little pieces of land to point a finger and say "why don't you let them mature" ... plus deer are a BIG nusence for farmers here and they want them goneINCLUDING the ones with spots .... excuse me guy's for the somewhat rude reply butthis REALLY chaps my butt !

Well DD you seem upset. Im just stating the fact and its not like you need to shoot those little bucks. Are you going to mount them all? So why not just shoot one of the does instead. Its not like you havent killed any bucks before. Im just saying that I would think a hunter like you who has taken alot of deer would be more selective than that. Guess I was wrong. If you shoot them they will NEVER get bigger. If you DON'T they stand a chance.

T.T. I am not going to get in a pissing battle over this ... but until you come down here and hunt I doubt you can appreciate our style of hunting ..and no I donot harvest deer just for their racks or to mount them we harvest them because we eat the meat ... the farmer wants them thined out ... and over population ...and when you say " a hunter like me" what does that mean ..I am notnow nor have I ever professed to being a "trophy" hunter although I do enjoy hunting for a big buck when I am in an area that holds big bucks... Im just a deer hunter plain and simple ..one who has been fortunate to goon a couple of hunts that produced a trophy ...otherwise I just try to produce meat for my family and friends who do not get to hunt but I do it in a legal way.
