Seen a pack of wolves once, they are so much larger than coyotes... Also seen a beaver and the nearest water was about mile and a 1/2 away.. It was odd?

Last year I saw a black "Red" Fox.

An all white squirrel. I had never seen 1 before.
Black squirrels, not very common here.
It's not strange to see a red fox. But i was sitting next to a tree 1 time with my legs stretched out. I kinda dozed off for a few minutes when something woke me up. It was a red fox and it stepped right over my legs. I woke up and didn't no wether to move or not. Kinda worries me when an animal like that isn't afraid of people.

The most unusual thing I've seen in the woods is a mink. It was making its way back down the creek that was about 20 yds infront of me. I also saw my first red fox out of that stand later in the year.

I saw an ostrich once.. freaked me the hell out.. come to find out there is a guy that has an ostrich farm across the road and nobody knew about it. One escaped and was under my stand looking around. I thought about shooting at it just to see if it was for real or if the DEC was playing some sort of "bait and trap" game.

This isn't an unusual animal but it was in an unusual place! I was hunting a hardwood mountain at least 2 miles from any body of water and a Canadian Goose walked past my stand....He was just browsing on shrubs and walking through the woods! He didn't appear to be hurt or sick in anyway...I guess he was just tired of flying and swimming?!....

About 35 years ago while hunting west of Eufaula, Alabama I saw a black panther.
About 35 years ago while hunting west of Eufaula, Alabama I saw a black panther.
It is/was a Jagaurundi (sp.) and is slightly smaller than a Cougar, andwas believed to be extinct here!
As far as what I've personally seen, I did get a rare sighting of a Cougar (called by the name of cougar, panther, mountain lion etc.)about 5 years ago, while bow hunting, at a range of 20 yards, so there was no doubt as to what it was!
About a year later, on the same property I saw a Turkey! Which was the first, and only Turkey, that I've ever seen in East Texas! There has been a Turkey restocking program here, and it appears to be slowly working!
I know that Cougars, and Turkey are common sights in many places, but not here! Those sightings were my first, in half a century of living!

Got a friend stationed at camp lejuene north carolina. He called me one day after hunting on base, he said he found something odd. He described it as a rub on a large tree only it was about six feet up the tree. I replied by asying don't you have bears up there. I can't post his reply, use your imagination. We're from huntsville al. Never seen that around here before.
