GOT ONE
Some of you may have read the post i put up earlier yesterday titled "Ouch"...well that was because that morning i had missed a deer wiht a rifle at 150 yards.
Well me and my friend went out that afternoon, with high hopes. We got in a stand 50 yards into the woods right between an apple orchard and a bedding site. His father goes there alot and says he always sees deer, bucks, but i was just after a doe for my first deer. about 30 minutes into the hunt, Ben tell me to look behind us slowly, i turn around and there she is, a large doe walking to a position that will be right in front of us. Ben got the camera rolling and i was shaking, but my early morning miss were not on my mind. i had plenty of time and was able to get a steady rest on my knee and the tree, needless to say, i was still super excited. The deer moved slowly, since the snow was very crunchy, but it finally stopped in a clearing between trees about 50 yards from us. Ben had the camera on, and i squessed the trigger. The deer stumbled, ran 25 yards and fell. I was shaking like mad, i had killed my first deer. We stayed in the stand a while longer, just watching, and a small doe came around aswell as a button buck. We climbed out of the stand and Bens father was up in the woods whistling to us, he thought the rifle i was using was out of sight since i had missed a deer that morning, so he was coming to give us his rifle, butoncehe sawme jogging over to the doe, he knew i hadgotten my first. The shot was excelant, it entered right through the heart, we know this because while gutting it, there was no heart to be found, we were going to eat that, since it was my first deer, but im fine that wedidnt.
I am still pumped fromyesterdays hunt. The deer isatthe butcher and icant wait till i get the meat back.
First deer, December 10th around 4 o'clock in a woodedtransition area
