I was just wondering what everyones favorite deer caliber is. I have a 7mm mag now and i like it a lot, plenty of pop.

for deer I would have to say 270.

i use a 30-06 with 150 gr loads, and i have never had a deer take a step without being on its way to the ground...the farthest a deer has ever moved was when i shot a 6 point and it flopped all the way down the hill until i could get close enough for a follow up...but im looking into getting a 7mm wsm or a .223(for a little more added challenge)

i've never hunted with a rifle but being a vet i would probably start with the 308 just because bulk ammo is cheap and i LOOOVE to shoot
