What am i doing wrong and how can i fix?
It seems that everytime I go to skin and butcher a deer(i dont let them hang and age) I always end up with the silverskin and the slimy, clear gel like coating on my meat[:@][:@][:@][:'(][:'(][:'(]. What am I not doing right and how exactly can I get rid of it? Am I not skinning it close enough[&o][&o]? I unfortunatly have no one to show me how to make it look as if it were store bought meat cuts( i.e. without the silver skin and the clear gel slim coat). I downloaded and watched the video link that was posted here a couple of weeks ago where the guy ended up with nothing but a skeleton when he was done, he makes it look so easy and none of his cuts had this problem.
PLEASE HELP ME....I would prefer not to waste my harvest by losing so much of it to cutting of the side that has this on it as if I were filting a fish!:( Thanks in advance |

rube it off if your really worried about it. it's just like facia, it won't kill you. sounds like your doing fine.

I take a fillet knife and trim all that stuff down to the meat before I start cutting. It's easy to do and makes for clean cuts when they come out of the freezer.

when we skin deer we just pull the skin down and cut were it sticks so its not like your not skinning them close enough. and like others have said if your worried about it just cut it off with a fillet kinfe.

I use a belt sander to take it off. Works every time.;)
