What to do OH What to do
Can anyone give me advice on hunting after the rut? I have 500 acres that han't been hunted for about 4 years and this is the first year that it has been hunted and I and the only one hunting it. I have seen a couple big bucks but never got a shot. I have takenone 8 pointer one 6 pointer and a doe. All before and durring the rut. I gave it about a week or so to callm down before going back out. The first time out I see about 20 does and one nice 8 pointer crossing a trail way to far for a shot. After seeing that I have been out there twice and I have seen nothing. Anyone have any advice on hunting after the rut? Does the grunt work after rut? Thanks for the help

There should still be some stragglers left unbred and the bucks will be desperately seeking Susanto get that one last girlfriend . If the others are still unbred, then they will come in in about 28 days after the first rut. The bucks will be more active for a short period, and then they wil be in stealth mode until the next secondary rut occurs. Go back to rub lines and the core areas, and hunt the edges of cover.

Thanks for the reply. I moved about 800 to a 1000 feet from the entrence of the woods where I hunt and found alot of rubs. In a 100 foot section there was probably 30 or 40 rubs, someone is tearing it up right there. The rubs don't look like they are a couple days old. I have also found rubs on trees up to 8 or 9 inches round. Should I hunt that section hard? Thanks
