Sister's First Buck, (10 Point)
My sister Angie shot her first buck this year. Taken with a Browning BAR, 130 yards. He dropped on the spot. I had pics of him early this year then he kind of disappeared. I'm glad he came back. He's 10 points, 16" inside spread, probably gross in the 110-115" range. Great first buck!

RE: Sister's First Buck, (10 Point)
Very nice. Give my congrats to Angie.
|
RE: Sister's First Buck, (10 Point)
Congrats to your sister!
Very nice pics. I found that if you want to pose the deer that way, you better do it quick before old Rigor Mortise shows up. He ruins alot of pictures...that guy. Beautiful job! |
RE: Sister's First Buck, (10 Point)
Livbucks, you can use rigormortis to your advantage. As soon as you can, put the deer a position with which you want it to be in for your photos. Preferably as natural a position as possible. Sometimes after folding all of the legs under, I'll either use a bungee cord or a rope to hold the head up and into position. Good thing about living in Wisconsin is that not only will rigormortis hold the deer in position, but freezing temperatures do as well.

RE: Sister's First Buck, (10 Point)
Beautiful deer AND sister. Congratulations. Good job.

RE: Sister's First Buck, (10 Point)
Congrats to her....thats an excelent buck! And not to shabby of a sis either.;)
One question though.....did your sister fix her hair and put on make-up for just the pics.....or did she do it to go hunting too?:D |
RE: Sister's First Buck, (10 Point)
Hey James tell your sister Congrats!!!!!!!! Nice deer and an excellent photo! Is that the infamous pond in the background! Your family pictures have that or a similar pond in the background that makes for great pictures! Once again congrats to Angie!:)
Hey James check out my African pics in the bowhunting forum, there under "take quality pics to be proud of". I had an amazing time! |
RE: Sister's First Buck, (10 Point)
James Vee,
Contrary to a recent post. your sister looks like a real lady. The deers rack would look a lot bigger if its body wasn't so darned big. C. Davis |
RE: Sister's First Buck, (10 Point)
Great buck and pic's for sure,
My son want to know? A Is she Married? B dose shewant to hunt in Wyo? C by chance does she hunt waterfowl? |
RE: Sister's First Buck, (10 Point)
Some of you guys are funny. No she's not married. She's 21 years old. She does hunt geese. I would love to hunt in Wyoming!
That is the same infamous pond from last year. I figured since she didn't have a picture from there, I had better get a couple. They turned out fairly nice I think. If I ever shoot one this year you guys will see some real nice photos. |
RE: Sister's First Buck, (10 Point)
James, would you put makeup on just before the picture too?, just kidding, nice buck.
|
RE: Sister's First Buck, (10 Point)
I pass on the info. By the way He's 20 and has a good job.
|
RE: Sister's First Buck, (10 Point)
Huge body! Did you weigh it. A good photo will always make the animal look bigger, but this looks like a 250lb. deer.
|
RE: Sister's First Buck, (10 Point)
Trophy Seeker, you nailed it. A good photo does make the body look huge, when actually it might not be. This buck was aged at appx. 3.5 years old, and weighed around 160lbs.

RE: Sister's First Buck, (10 Point)
That's a nice deer, congrats to your sister. Tell her to join the site and we can tell her that in person. Of course now that we know how cute she is that might not be such a good idea for her.

RE: Sister's First Buck, (10 Point)
awesome looking buck. James I was some how under the impression that you couldn't use rifles in Wisconsin. Is that true or just in some areas or what?
|
RE: Sister's First Buck, (10 Point)
MT, I believe you are thinking of southern parts of the state where they have archery, shotgun and muzzleloader seasons only.
|
RE: Sister's First Buck, (10 Point)
that would make anything down here in GA look like bambi. beautiful deer congrats.
|
RE: Sister's First Buck, (10 Point)
Awesome picture taking! Its great to see some quality, in field pics!
BTW - Maybe you and your sister could come visit me in SD, I do run a hunting guide service......Or your sister could just come if she wants.....:D Sorry, couldn't resist! |

RE: Sister's First Buck, (10 Point)
Very nice deer - she looks proud - and should be - tell her congratulations from me - I can tell it means alot to her in the pic. The pictures are very nicely done. I know you put a bunch of time in Trail cam scouting - it must make you feel real good that your sis took one that you were scouting. Post a Cam pic if you have it.
