Both have advantages. Probably for most people leasing land would be more economical!
A few years back, a friend of mine bought 20 acres of a large ranch that was being carved up, and sold! What they ended up with was lots of people trying to hunt 20 acre plots, and hunting their neighbors property when the opportunity came up! Needless to say, it was not very safe, and in an area that was known to hold good numbers of deer, the deer soon became scarce!
Now if you can affordenough land to make hunting practical, that would be nice!
