taken in northern minnesota with a 270 savage model 111.
ya i know that 3 years is a long time for the mounting but i know the guy pretty well and he had a nother guy working with him who quit and now he is on his own and back logged 2 1/2 to 3 years and he tells customers that up front.

really! three years and it's still not done! you should be charging him!!! either he's lazy or he's so good that he's booked up for decades!

Nice deer but 3 years is just crazy. That taxidermists will lose 95% of his business telling folks it will be 2-1/2 to 3 years before hes done. I dont care how good ya are, 3 years.........

239 lbs
Is that live weight? or dressed weight? 3 years is way too long reguardless of the circumstances. 1 year is about right even for the bussisestof taxidermist. Is this a side hobby for him? BTW, very nice deer you took there.

I have never heard of a taxidermist taking 3 years to do a WT deer mount ... its a good thing you have pictures of him so you can remember what he looked like ... maybe after 3 years when you do FINALLY get him back he will have grown to a 14 point ... but it is a very nice buck ..looks a lot like a Canadian WT ...

I agree, 3 years is rediculous. I would have already picked up the cape and antlers and sought another taxidermist.

239 was the dressed weight. he was heavy enough dragging out of the swamp gutted i wouldnt have wanted to haul the guts out too!!

Real nice buck big man. You still shootin hoops once in awhile. I haven't touched a rock in probably 3 years. We should go to Mt. Iron mens night when it starts back up this winter. ;)

Three years ago I took my deer to the taxidermist in November. I got it back on July 27 the next summer. It's funny I remember the exactday. To me those9 months seemed like 3 years.

Very nice deer you got there.

Fantastic deer!Being gone at the taxidermists so long reminds me of the story about the Jim Jordan buck. Make sure you get him back! Jordan didn't get recognized as the killer of his deer until after he died.

I will get him back. actually he is in the process of drying and then i can pick him up. I went and visited him alot to see how things were going and just look at all the other mounts that he was working on. The taxidermist is a good guy and does good work. I know he isnt trying to pull anything shady or i would have taken the deer elsewhere long ago. I will post a pic of the mount when i get him back. I did how ever lose a deer to a shady taxidermist the year befor this one. the guys name was rob douglas and he now lives in ironwood michigan and his taxidermist shop is called cedar valley taxidermy. if anyone knows him tell him i want my rack back!!!

Tony where did you shoot that big pig? Do you normally hunt around here? I hunt behind my house in midway and down in Jacobson south of rapids during the gun season. I've never seen a buck that big alive on the hoof out of a stand. What a rush that must have been!!
