I am currently shooting a .243 and I like it, but i just wanted a gun with a little more knock down power. I read that the 25-06 was a little bit better gun than the .243. Just wanted to get my fellow hunters opinion.

I belive the 25-06 is a necked down .270 (which is a necked down 30.06). IMO, u might as well getthe .270 or the 30.06 because it will be easier to find the ammo and it will be cheaper as well.

I had a Ruger Mark II 25.06 and LOVED it!! It did a good job puttingdeer down.
The only potential problem is ammunition selection. If you live near a big sporting goods store, then you are all set. My Ruger 25.06 lovedthe Remington Core Locks and was a tack driver with them; however, when I tried some Hornady rounds it did not hold a tightgroup at all.
The only reason I got rid of it is it was a bull barrel and got a little heavy lugging it into the woods.
Now I have seller's remorse. Since I lost a ton of weight Ican lug around that extra weight and reallywish I had it back!!!

go with the 7mm-08, is the 308 necked down to fit a 7mm bullet.. it is extremely flat shooting and knocks deer on their butts. It is also heavy enough for larger game also and small enough for long distance varmint rounds.... everyone has their own opinions but I really like the 7mm-08... just my .02c
