Seems like an awful lot of firepower for a whitetail.

I know 4 people that use .338 Win for deer. I personally use a .300 Weatherby Mag, and I like the stopping power. Around here there are so many property lines, that when you get a shot, you better put it down and QUICK! I lost well hit deer with both .30-06 and 7mm Mag because they made it across the fence, and then I find the jerkhole neighbors tagging them. It was like they always waited for me to shoot...lol Now..I say let them wait!

I do and love it! I made the mistake of using Federal ammunition with a 210 gr. Nosler Partition and had to do some tracking. The heavy jacket of the partitionprojectile didn't allow the bullet to properly expand and was punching through the deer to quickly. I backed off to a 200 gr. Ballistic tip and watch them drop on the spot.

Match the bullet to game!

Me too .. The 200 gr. Ballistic tip works real well.. I loaded up some 180 gr, Nosler accubond that I will try this year and see how they work .. Never lost a deer with a 338 ..
