Default How do you determine a gross BC SCORE

I posted this question in Deer Contest, under a reply in the subject SCORE YOUR BUCK CORRECT THE FIRST TIME. I did not get the answer I was looking for. so I am posting it here.............. I shot a 9pt (4x5) whitetail. It is your basic 8pt with a forked brow tine (g1) making it a have 9 points that are scoreable..... Inside spread 17, right antler column = 59, left antler not counting the Abnormal point coming off of the g1 = 60 4/8 . This adds to 136 4/8 ( 17+59+60 4/8 = 136 4/8 ).
The BC score sheet shows 136 4/8 - 5 6/8 = 130 6/8 net. The 5 6/8 is my total difference in left to right.
My adnormal point (2 2/8) went into the difference column.
what is my gross score ? is it 136 4/8 plus the 2 2/8 abnormal point for a gross score of 138 6/8 or is it 136 4/8 plus 5 6/8 for a total of 142 2/8 ?

If I read that site, correctly then my deer has gross typical score of 136 4/8
because I am only counting it as 8 pointer and a gross non-typical score of
138 6/8 because I am counting it as a 9 pointer and get to count my 2 2/8 abnormal point....if I am wrong,please correct me...thanks LM.

You are correct on both accounts above on your gross scores. However for purposes of the contest which I believe is your main concern your gross score is 138 6/8, as their is no distinction for Typical vs Non Typical. Meaning anything that is 1" or longer goes towards your total gross scorefor the contest!
