Many tests have been conducted that prove that no bullet can strike objects such as twigs or branches without it's line being effected.Brush busting bullets are just a myth that many people refuse to let die.
I hunt very thick cover with 50 to 60 yard shots being the max so the 220 grain will push thru the cover and still hold its line to the deer
10-4,Stubble! I don't know how many times this has come up, but even a .50cal will deflect.

In theory I agree with you but in practice I feel better with my 220 gr blunt nose bullets as the deer seem to always be in a clump of brairs or in a thicket of small pines. Maybe its mental but my experience is if you don't trust it you shouldn't own it.

Well Buck, depends what state you are shooting deer. Here in W.Central FL. they run between 165pds and 175pds. In North FL. they run alittle heavier. I don't have to use any 180 or 200grs for deer. As a matter of factmosthunters in my area use .270/130grs andeven up state. We have alot of thick cover down hereand if I am hunting in these areas, I use 00 or sabots.

I guess it would make a diff if your hunting fla. deer or mulies out west. I like the 180's out of my 700 which may be kinda of an over kill but some times I'm not sure if I'm going to encounter whitetails, mulies, bear or elk so its a good compromise for what I may encounter.

I also use 180 grains in mine. The Sierria 180 gr. spitzer boattail gives me the greatest accuracy in my 30/06 721 Remington and the heavy bullet holds up well for long range soibean field shooting. .
