Will a blood trail spook other deer?
I shot a doe yesterday afternoon and it left a blood trail Ray Charles could have followed ... my question is do you think if I hunt the same stand today if other deer moving into the area will get spooked by the blood there ?

i guess it could. but a couple years back my boy and i both shot a buck. one in the morning and one that same afternoon and they both walked down the same trail. they were both shot where they crossed the road within just a few feet of each other.

In my experience...nope...hunt it...if its a good area they will return...About 10 years ago I shot a 8 point in the lungs with CoreLokt...he ran perhaps 25 yards...and fell under the tree I was sitting in...I was a smoker at that time...so I lit one up...relaxing, enjoying life...heard a noise behind me...looked around...dang if there wasn't a 9 point with his nose to the blood trail...not 25 yards from my tree stand....While I was watching him....he just dropped...Hit the ground....CoreLokt through the neck put him down...

I shot a buck one year on opening day and went back to the same spot the next day and saw a doe walk right up to the gut pile and give it a sniff. She didn't appear to be alarmed and stayed in the generalarea for about 15 minutes before melting away into the brush.

A few years ago I had 3 doe walk up, shot one, 2 days later here come the remaining 2, shot another, 3 days later here comes the the third, let her walk. All came up the same trail and when shot both deer took the same getaway route. Go ahead and hunt it.

Four years ago I shot a buck on opening day,it was a bloody mess. Gutted it 25 yards from my stand(figured I would have to move the stand so I didn't care about where to gut him) Soafter bringing the deer down to the barn,I came back to the stand.Well it was only 10 AMopening day and didn't what to make a ruckus moving the stand(give the other guys a chance). I climbed in my stand and bagged a Doe at 11:15 AM. I gutted her about 15 feet from the buck.No worries Hunt[8D]
