I got spotted early on my evening hunt.. a deer snorted and nothing came after that for the rest of the evening I was wondering how long deer will stay away from the area after a deer sounds the warning. Will the deer forget the whole incident by the next morning, or is the place contaminatd for a few days? would deer come later on the same evening?

I have jumped a ton of deer walking in to my stand in the morning over the years and killed a ton of them 40 minutes later after being blown at going into my stand.
Now if you scare a deer and there is no doubt in THAT deers mind that you are a humen, then THAT deer and THAT deer only may avoid the area for a day, but that will have no effect on other deer.

I havewitness does snorting like crazy and other deer trying to figure out what they are snorting at. I think sometimes they do it if they are not quite sure what something is. Does not mean your hunt is ruined.

I agree with the others, just keep hunting. Tonight when the wind was blowing I had a doe with her 2 fawns come in the backdoor. once she came across my scnetshe snorted, stomped and eventually fled snorting for a fair distance. It wasn't30 mins later a decent buck came along the same path this time the wind was calm and passed within 30 yards of my location without alarm. This has happened on many occasion to me, so don't let it deter you! Whenever your in their space you have the potential of being winded, some flee without a peep and yet other make a stink. Just keep hunting and don't let it rattle you!!!!
