Yes.
My father shoots wild pigs with his Marlin 30-30 and 150gn FNs out past 100m no problem at all.

Drew, I have a video called, "Hunting Hogs Down Under" and 4 out of 5 are using .3030's and dirt bikes in theout-back. Theykill them for the bounties that are payed for them. They just bring back an ear or atail. They areso far back, that the meat will spoil trying to get it back.

do you think i will have enough power with a 170 grain bullet to make a 100+ yard shot with it?

Those guys must be a long way out. Were they in New South Wales, Queensland or Northern Territory? There is no bounty system that I know of in NSW. Wild pig numbers are not high out west now. Your video must have been taken a while ago, long before this four year drought.
Yes, Marlin and Winchester 30-30s are very popular scrub rifles here. I use a Marlin 45-70 for scrub work.
At times and depending on demand for wild pork, taking dressed hogs to local chillers can pay for the hunting trip. There is a high demand in Germany, Austria and Hungary for Australian wild pork.

i have never had much luck with a 30.30 at any range. i'd be better off trying to sneak up on a deer and hitting him over the head with it. if you can place the shot the 30.30 will work.

What I read suggests the .30-30 is known to be good on deer out to 200 yards. If you are using open sights, it may be difficult to score reliable hits on a deer out to 200 yards, but the cartridge has the killing power there.
