1. Sighting in rifle immediately before the hunt and shooting practice in the months before the hunt. A trustworthy rifle/sight weapon.

2. Time on the hunting ground, particularly the RIGHT time on the hunting ground like from 1 hour before sun-up to 2 hours after sun-up and from 2.5 hours before sun-down to last shooting light.

3. Remaining motionless and moving very slowly when moving. Also, hunting into the wind and generally taking account of the wind.

In South Texas, this is the best formula! I manage our property intensively, but being in the right place at the right time counts for a lot.

Sheer doggeness and tenacity...never give up!! I have gooten many of my deer on the final day (even final hour) of a 2-3 day hunt through sheer tenacity. Walking until I almost drop. Usually these crunch time deer are flushed from an afternoon nap. Dont quit hunting EVER! Many of my deer have come in what may be considered the off hours (middle of the day)
