RE: Nice en'
I seen him yesterday afternoon. 15 FEET, not yards, from me.
Only thing is, we literally about walked into eachother. I stayed in the stand until 7:55pm. When I got two "squats" from the foot piece of my climber being on the ground. I stopped to undo my saftey belt. I stood there about five minutes with my flashlight in my mouth undoing it. I got it undone and sat down to climb the rest of the way down. Right time I lifted up the bottom piece, he stepped from around the tree. He reared up like a horse and jumped into some cains, then across the creek.
I guess he was walking while I was climbing down and was got that close while I was undoing my belt. I've never had anything like this happen before. I think both him and I left some brown droppings in the swamp. It was one of the best hunts I've ever been on. I also watched three does for about 35mins under my tree.
Only thing is, is that I doubt I will see him again. Now he knows that I am there. Obviously he never smelled me b/c he got that close to me. I am certainly leaving it alone until next week. Man, what a hunt.

Oh yeah, our rut? Yes, it will be kicking in full swing soon. Our rut here is really messed up. We don't have a set single rut. Our does come in and go out for a while. Its nothing like up north.

Too bad you didn't get a shot off. As long as the does keep hanging around the buck will surely come back. Not sure who scared who the most. I'll bet the buck has no idea who or what you are. From your description of events. The buck probably had his head to the ground following the doe scent. Keep us posted!!
Good Luck!
