I have no idea about the black walnuts. How about just regular corn kernels?

I agree. Go with the corn, you will see turkey's and squirrels feeding also.

Don't think a deer will crack a walnut...save them for the wild hogs. Go with corn or rake up some white oak acorns

Corn all the way. A litle goes a long way and they also have to keep their heads down to eat it. Where I hunt a lot of guys use cabbage but the deer take a bit, pick up their head and chew, look around, then take another bite. With corn, thier noses are glued to the ground.

I honestly don't think a deer can break open a black walnut shell.Where I hunt their are black walnut tree's everywhere but I've never seen a deer eat one.Squirrels love the though.
The husks of the black walnut have a very strong odor.I'm going to smell like a black walnut when I hunt that area this year.
Most guys I talk with say deer like white acorns more than anything else.Followed by corn, red acorns and so on.
