what should i do about my killed deer
 

I am a college student there will be some weekends that I will come home to hunt on the weekends. Say I get a deer on sunday night what should I do if I have class on Monday?

For someone with 500+ posts on this site (and some hunting experience I assume) you should be able to answer this idiotic question yourself.

If you can't guarantee that the carcass will be properly taken care of then you have no business pulling the trigger or touching the release.

Son...you gut him and cut him up on sunday nite....or you have him hanging a few days...weather permitting..then have a friend cut him up ..OR YOU HUNT ON SATURDAY ONLY!!!!!

What if youshoot a dear and cant track him sunday nite???
These issues should already resolved if you are truly a hunter..Not nutcrakin.. but ..A post like this gets stuck in the craw of every hunter that reads this... Im not attacking you...just your approach to hunter ethics

Yes in FL it's againist the law to hunt 1/2hr after sunset
on WMA's for deer and hogs. On private propertyit's legal
to hunt hogs after dark.

deerhunter1224-If you stick one at the end of shooting light sunday, skip classes on monday. 1 day absent is not the end of the world. Trust me I know. I missed a lot more to that due to hunting. LOL

well we dont get to hunt on sunday here but if I did kill a deer on a sunday night Id spend the rest of that night tracking, and cleaning, If I hjad to be to work on monday Id call in and tell the boss I had to run a deer to checking station and to the butcher. if i didnt find him Id call and say I had a deer down would ya come and help me find him. But as far as school goes Id skip unless everything went right that sunday night.

Play hookie anddo your part as a responsible hunter. If you were to stick a deer at dusk and couldn't find it, I would hope you would be out there at first light and try to locate it. If this isn't possible then forfeit your Sunday hunts until you are able.

Look up a butcher between your hunting area and school. If you have to butcher yourself, see what your heart tells you on Saturday night. If niether is an option, plan on leaving the woods a little early on Sunday.

do the right thing, for every person it will be different, if i couldn't miss school, i would skip the sunday evening hunt, if i could afford to miss the class i'd hunt, i mean how many of those sunday evening hunts are going to turn into deer anyway, only you can answer these questions, if it was me i'd hunt, you can go to school anytime, plus schools not rely that mportent neway

Being your in collegeI am sure your familar with the term "Pulling an all nighter!!". I have had many a late night and still made the next days events due to hunting. Just like christmas only comes once a year so what is a few less winks...really!:eek: If your not comfortable with butchering, then either show upa little late for class on monday or have a pal or family member drop it a butcher for you the next am.

There are many ways to respond to your question.
The term "Pulling an all nighter!!". is the best response.
Keep in mind that when the weather is cold/freezing that a fresh carcus can be hung for several days. I have hung a moose for a week and the meat was fine. The meat is easier to cut when somewhat frozen. Basically skin the carcus and remove any hair/blood. Good luck!

rebel hog what part of fl are you hunting everywhere i have hunted in fl if you use a one-eye dog to hunt they will put your but under the jail with out the white lighting but in some of fl they call it stump water

There are a number of possible solutions and they have pretty much all been mentioned.It would seem likely that a family member or a friend could help you out just as you would help them.I have skinned and cut up deer for friends and family members.
I was always very concerned with not missing classes because I was never a academic natural.So do your leg work with having some one able to do those chores for you or at least to run it to a competent butcher.In college limited time to hunt,you can't not hunt on a day that you have available to you!

Well - I don't know how far you are from college, but you should probably do what I would/will have to do...... Get er done that nite. I have 1 1/2 hr drive from home to college and if I gotta leave at midnite cause I was cuttin up deer so be it - respect for the animal is utmost and if it takes that long to do things properly - so be it. Thats what monday afternoon naps are for:D

ok i didnt think i would get so many negative results. yes i know if i dont think I will have time to track, and clean the deer I dont have any business being in the woods. I dont really have to many people that can help me. No friends that hunt.

rebel hog i used to hunt hogs in dixie county all the time near horseshoe beach but stump water, swamp cabbage and smoked mullet sounds like a good time in the afternoon

Easy now DD, we all know down here that it just takes 20min to skin/quarter/and grind adog-sized deer. We're done in plenty of time to skip class to go hunting on Monday morning. War Eagle!!!!! P.S. Wanna buy a Iron Bowl ticket...got one with your name on it.
