Default First deer down for the year

Got me a doe last night right on the edge of dark with my bow. You have to take a doe before a buck on this state park.I have tried for 6 years this real early season to get a buck in velvet. Hopefully this will be my year. Anyone else get any in full velvet yet? Seen some at night while driving with and without velvet.

Congrats, Good luck on the buck!! I have never killed a buck in velvet, around here most bucks have already shed their velvet.

Good for you and good luck with your buck. I’ve already got a buck in velvet in archery but this is going back quite a few years. I mounted the antlers the following year and still have them. They’re kind of funny looking with one side being nice and the other side being odd, but it’s a reminder on how much fun I had that early fall except for the part when my cousin cut my fingers with my broad head and having 20 stitches on my left hand. He still owes me big time

I got a nice 6 pointer in full velvet opening day of NH( thursday) my first buck with a bow. It was a tough drag trying not to damage the velvet, now to try to figure out how to keep the velvet on for a skull mount. good luck
