Default Help With Scope???

I got a birthday coming up and I need a new scope so I think I'm to see if I can get one.The gun is a Mauser 270 and I will be hunting in the woods mostly. The farthest shot that I may take is probably 100-150yds.Would you guys mind giving me some suggestions?
Thanks,
JE

Givin the fact that you hunt wooded area mostly and shoot out to 150yrds max..You should be fine with a 36mm objective lens..
I'd personally go with a straight 6 power..
But if you choose to a 1.5 -6 x 36mm will work..
You pay extra for it ,and, the lower power may come in handy..
But I doubt it....
I don't suggest going any bigger in power or size of lens..It will
only hinder...
As for Makes it depends what you can afford....
But againwith the distance your shooting out to, you don't need a Top Of The Line Scope but it must be well made....
At the least go with the Bushnell Elite 3200 or Leupold VX2 it will be all you need for this setup..They are the best brands in this price range..
If you can afford more try the Bushnell Elite 4200 or Leupold VX3
There are many other good optics brandsin this range as well..
Good Luck..

I'd suggest a Leupold VX II like was previously mentioned. 3-9x40 power.

The variable scopes have come a long way. . .I did the fixed power thing on my .270 a few years back thinking all my shots would be under 100/150 yards. Needless the say that scope is now long gone and has been replace with a 3-9 x40. Optics have come along ways. . If your gonna usea scopeget something from it.

I agree with the Leupold and 3-9x40 suggestions, but I would also look at the Zeiss Conquests. They are also great scopes at reasonable prices.

if money is a limiting factor then I would suggest a weaver scope in a 2x7 power. That power range is perfect for the huinting conditions you described.

What is your budget? You can get a Conquest for $500 that would be hard to beat for a mid price scope.
