I really don't like to hunt in the rain mainly because you get soaked but I have killed several deer in the rain. Most will tell you rain is O.K. Heavy downpour isn't.

As Ballistictip said its really a matter of opinion ,Myself I have always done better in the rain ,less problem with scent ,noisy brush and the deer stay out of the cover more during the rain.

It's definately OK to hunt in the rain. Good or bad, I wouldn't say either. It's kind of normal, like any other day. You can't hear as well because of the constand noise from the rain. And tracking a wounded deer can really be a pain. My main concern about hunting in the rain would be tracking a wounded deer. But it's possible....and rain doesn't stop me. I dont' melt.

i perfer to hunt in the rain. the dder are still active and most " non diehard " hunters will not hunt the rain. they don't hear you as good. and most deer i have seen in the rain walk with the heads close to the ground picking up scent.
i love the rain. good for stlaking.

Ditto with Quilly. I have seen more (and killed more) deer in the rain than any other weather pattern including the snow. I absolutely agree with the lack of hunters in the woods during a rain, and the ones you do see you can be reasonably sure they are the die hard hunters. Fair weather hunters miss out on alot of good hunting. Get yourself a good set of Gore Tex packable rain gear and get into the rainy woods, you will be surprised.

I think a light rain is a great time to hunt.

My favorite time and place to hunt on a rainy day is near food when the rain lets up in the late afternoon or early evening. It has been my experience that the deer really get up and move after a good rain.

If you're not huntin' you're not livin'!!!!!!!!
