RE: Open Sights Or Scope ?
I can see fine at 50 yards with open sights and get good groups. 100 yards is pushing it, but I can do it. Better yet - in the early rifle season, I'll used the 4x32 scope and my tree stand. Late in the season when it gets real cold, I'll take the scope off and do a slow stalk hunt in the heavy brush and cedars when the deer are seeking shelter.
Hillbillyhunter: Thanks.... yeah, I've heard of a few guys that slap on a scope and just go for it, without getting it accurately sighted in! [&:] |
RE: Open Sights Or Scope ?
Good scope.

RE: Open Sights Or Scope ?
for my muzzleloader, a scope, and on my 870 express, a fully-rifled barrel with open sights.

RE: Open Sights Or Scope ?
I have a scope on everything as I often take shots further than 100 yards. The only exception is my slug gun because the scopes never last long due to the recoil.

RE: Open Sights Or Scope ?
I have scopes on every firearm except on my shotgun for birds.

RE: Open Sights Or Scope ?
I own 3 functioning MLs , a shotgun , and 2 .22s , only the .22s have scopes . The MLs and shotgun don't because they are only used for shorter range shots , 50-100 yards at most , and I can hit a vitals size target at those ranges with open sights .

RE: Open Sights Or Scope ?
ORIGINAL: timbercruiser Good scope. ![]() But like I mentioned earlier, late in the season when it's bitter cold out, I'll take off the scope and slow stalk hunt in the heavy timber and cedars, in hopes of flushing out a deer. After the season, I'll put the scope back on, bore sight it, and sight it back in at the range. Butch A. |
