Here in Ohio it is legal as long as you are not under motor power.
I hunt ducks from a canoe all the time and use it to axcess areas for deer hunting. I am a slight clutz .I would want tobe either the paddeler or shooter not both. Johnch |

If it were legal in my state(and if there was sufficient water in the area), I would hunt, and I say HUNT, from a canoe or boat without any qualms.

I would do it. Sounds exciting.

It is flat out illegal in Mississippi. No matter, motor, no motor or what ever. Very explicit, no deer hunting out of a boat.
There are several places that have some very nice deer around where I hunt, only way to really hunt them would be by boat. I would not hesitate if it were legal. R Hank |

I tend to try and boil things down and then see if it is already being done or not. Maybe they should make it so that you cannot be traveling at a spped greater than X because it sounds to me like you are asking if it is ok to hunt from a vehicle and you say it can't be mortorized so it sounds like the spead at which you can cover ground is the issue. Could you hunt from a car if it was being pushed? If you can't then why a boat? It's a vehicle that no one calls it one, but it is.
I would if given the chance and all the other stuff. Sounds like a blast, kind of tough around here though, late season ice. |

jrbsr,
Here in GA., you can hunt from a boat for any game, deer, ducks, etc., as long as it is not motorized. If so, the motor, electric or gas, can't be running and I believe it has to be tilted up out of the water. We have duck hunted the sloughs on our land many a time from a boat and drifted the local river, but it's harder than it sounds. Now the other problem, if on a river, such as we have here, which runs thru all sorts of private land on both banks, and you can't shoot a deer in a stream or river, when he steps out on the bank he is on private land, so now you would be trespassing if you shot him on the bank that is not on your land. This pretty much stops it here because all the land is private for several miles in both directions. dog1 |

It's legal in Texas, so if I had any navigable water nearby I'd try it.
