Does any one have any experience with a Hastings 12ga slug barrel? I am going to hunt Illinois in December with a shotgun and need to purchase a slug barrel and Ive decided Paragon 20in 12ga ...how accurate is this barrel with a scope?

Yes, I have had a Hastings Paradox Barrel on a BRN A-5 12ga for
a few years. With Win. BRI Sabots @ 150yds, I can bust a 4"Flood
Lamp bulb.

You have to watch out for Remington's first generationSolids.
Hastings has a Warning on the Internet, look it up!
It was Remington that had a problem with thier first generation
batch of Solids. Hastings was just warningpeople that were useing them in
thier barrels. I contacted Remington and they gave me the 1st generation
numbers. If I can find them I will post them.

We have observed that some of Hastings' replacement barrels have been damaged when customers used pre-1999 Remington Copper Soilid Sabot Ammunition with the specifications below:

Index/EDI No.

Gauge
Shell Length
Slug Weight

PR 12 MAG RS
12 ga.
3"
1 3/16 oz.

PR 12 RS
12 ga.
2 3/4"
1 oz.

Hey Doctor,

This post would fit a little better in the gun forum. There is already an active post on the exact topic....FYI

On the subject though...go with the longest barrel avaiable with the cantilever scope mount for maximum accuracy. Then be prepared to try numerous different sabots to see wich ones your guns shoots best.
Also avoid the muzzlebrake/sabot discarding version....

I have one in the 20 ga. version and it is absolutely awesome. I bought it for my wife but I have shot it more than her. I have taken it out several times and just shot it. It was shoot with my rifles out to 100 yards. At 50 yards it will shoot a 3 shots group that is one big hole a little bigger than a quarter. It's impressive!

I used to work at Hastings, and inspect barrels & chokes. I even got to test out a lot of the products whether it's barrels or chokes. All I can say is awesome stuff.

DOC LOOK ATTHE TWOREMINGTONPRODUCT NUMBERS I POSTED.
THESE WERE THE FIRST SOLIDS THAT REM. CAME OUT WITH.
REM. HAS ADMITTED THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THEM ON
MANUFACTURING AND HAS CORRECTED THE PROBLEM.

HASTINGS DOES NOT TRUST THEM, SO I HAVE NEVER USED THEM.
MY BARREL LIKES THE WIN.BRI SABOTS OVER THE OTHERS. I ALSO
LIKE THE FEDERAL SABOTS.
I GET EXCEPTIONAL GROUPINGS WITH THEM. OF COURSE YOU HAVE TO
FIND THE ONE THAT WILL SHOOT BETTER IN YOURS.

Doc, there's nothing wrong with Hastings Paradox Barrels.
Remington has had a problem with thier Solids.
