Deer activity index is affected by the moon, weather (temperature, rain, etc) and hunting pressure which affects it the most. All this must be taken into account when using the following index.
My index is based off several years of personal observation records and photo’s from surveillance camera and other resources.
Before you go, no matter what the activity of Deer are, when you get a chance to hunt is still better than the chance you have sitting in the house. Plus the fact some of us only get to hunt the weekends. Good Luck.

Another interesting fact is that.
182 Whitetail deer or (66%) are Sun Rise to Noon Sightings.
44 Whitetail deer or (34%) are Noon to Sunset Sightings.

I am no moon expert. However, it is widely researched that the 2nd full moon after the autumn equinox typically triggers the rut. That means the November full moon which is not until 11/19 would trigger the rut. I suspect the October full moon will get the bucks pumped up and into pre-rut activity, but the majority of the doe are not expected to come into estrus until mid to late November. My approach this fall will be to hit it hard in late October and stay with it through the end of November. My Oct hunts will target core areas and places with thick cover that show sign. My November hunts will target funnel areas and high odds travel routes between bedding areas. Late November look for the doe and their primary feeding area. Good luck to all!

I you are in New York, yes it might generally apply, but I would first go and buy Deer and Deer hunting last two issue. Charles A. writes for them and is in that part of the country. He also put out his own guide and has a book.

Can't get published on this because he is the leading authority on it, in every magazine. So I do my for fun and for others to enjoy.

But like I tell everyone. First print it off and then when hunting highlight the days you see deer and even how many on that day and see if it works for you in your area. But, keep them over a few years and come up with your own areas movement.

I look at it as an awareness guide. If I have to for some reason not to hunt some weekend, wife to do list,LOL. Why not take the chance on when I have seen less movement.

Good luck
