Leaf River Scouting Camera
Hi guys,
Well after reading quite a bit on the Web, it seems that for the price, the LR DC - 2 dig. camera seems to be the best out there.Have some of you tried it at below freezing Temps? batteries good? Also, who is the maker of the Leaf River as I know a dealer who might import some to Canada? Any info on this is appreciated. By the way, the Bushnell batteries on the trailscout won't last long below 32 F!!! Cormier |

Thanks Cornfed,
I'm going to order some as the bushnell one is not to my liking!!!! You have used yours in cold temps before? How many pics can you take in the Fall with 1 set of batteries? If it's not to much hastle, could you send me a few pics to my E mail add from your Leaf River camera? Can you use the camera at 4mp? At this, the pics should be very good! Thanks again Cornfed, you've been a great help. |

ORIGINAL: CORMIER Hi guys, Well after reading quite a bit on the Web, it seems that for the price, the LR DC - 2 dig. camera seems to be the best out there.Have some of you tried it at below freezing Temps? batteries good? Also, who is the maker of the Leaf River as I know a dealer who might import some to Canada? Any info on this is appreciated. By the way, the Bushnell batteries on the trailscout won't last long below 32 F!!! Cormier I had mine out in February and March in well below freezing temps in PA. No problems there and it took3000 - 4000 pics over 6 weeks before the batteries died. I would buy one again, everyone has stuff that will break once in a while so I don't mind that, it is their customer support that impressed me most as well as the bells and whistles this camera has compared to others around the same price or that cost much more. |

GOT A CALL LAST NIGHT FROM Leaf river and they say the new infrared will be in on the 12th july and sent out right away. So I should have it and in the woods by the 16th. Your right with their customer service there. I takled to Jim and Mine wouldn't take night pic's and they did a swop with me. Plus called and explaine what was wrong with the one I sent back to them.
Great camera and business to deal with!! |

RE: Leaf River Scouting Camera
In the picture, is it attached to the tree with nylon straps?
|
RE: Leaf River Scouting Camera
I think Its nylon, like the old service belts with about a 4in piece that stretches and holds it tight.
I think it holds and works really well. I'm hopeing for the new leafriver infrared to be at my door step any day now. |
RE: Leaf River Scouting Camera
Hey guys, I have some questions about these cameras...I'm thinking about getting one.
1. Is the DC-2 any different than the DC-1 (other than the viewing screen)? 2. Regarding compact flash cards...any suggestions on these (size, brand, etc)?My thinking is that I will get 2 cards, and just change out the card when I go to check it, and take the card home. Thats why I was thinking the DC-2 would not really be neccesary, since I probably wouldn't view the pics on the cam in the field. 3. How do you view your pics? I was thinking to get a separate card viewer so I could view the pics on my TV also. Any suggestions on this?If I just have the card...can I still load the pics onto my pc(without the cam)? 4. What type of security do these cameras have? I know that nothing is theif proof if they really want it, but was curious as the ad's don't really show or tell much. 5. Last thing...does anyone have the infared camera yet? What is the price on those, and what advantages do they have over the DC-1 & DC-2? I am a game cam rookie as you can probably tell by these stupid questions, but am very much looking forward to getting one. Thanks for your input & suggestions/advice! I appreciate it :D ~Mike |
RE: Leaf River Scouting Camera
I'm not sure but I think the mpeg is hire, thats for resulotion of the pic's.
Most are fine from what I hear and I oput a 512 in mine and I could leave it for a long time. I average about 3 to 4 hundred pic's a week. I view mine on the camera and a lap top which I take with me. security it has a bar that you can put 2 lk's on it. A place to run a cable through it and around a tree. Plus a place to lock it with out the bar. the infrared, should have it anytime. unclegrizz |
RE: Leaf River Scouting Camera
The comments on this unit have me interested. I have been giving some thought on buying a digital game cam for use on some private land I have permission to hunt. Would this be the unit to go with?...at least in reference to the most bang for the buck.
Also, in case some of you don't frequent the bowhunting forum then check out this bruiser I have frequenting one of my favorite hunting areas..... ![]() |
