Have you ever been checked by the GW?
I have hunted for over 35 years and have never had a GW check anything, heck I have never seen one while hunting. Now down home where I started hunting the GW knew every local and what kind of vehicle they drove and whether they were poachers or not.
I did have my fishing license checked once, I got a goow GW thank goodness, he handed me my license back with a pen? I asked him what the pen was for? He said you forgot to sign your license, I signed it and went on.

1 time while checking a doe at the station. We had already checked our buck and cut his head off when leaving it at the processor. The head was in the back of the truck and he wanted to see tags/licenses on it. He was cordial

Taz, I got checked last year during blackpowder season. I had just got done hunting for the morning and was changing clothes at the truck when he drove up. He check my liscense out and everything was fine there. While I was hunting I had picked up a glass vile someone had thrown away in the woods. I had it sitting on the tailgate of my truck. The GW have me the 3rd degree about that vile asking what I was doing with it. I told him I had picked it up while I was hunting and that I was just taking care of the land. He said I should be careful about picking things like that up because some people carry their illegal drugs in them. He said it looked old and that I was probably telling the truth. I told him again that I was just taking care of the land. What irritates me the most is that this GW was out of shape and weighed about 280 to 300 pounds. He probably drives right past trash people have dumped around the management area while making his rounds and does not give it a second thought about picking it up. At least I was making an effort.

Since I've been hunting in Georgia, I see one or both game wardens in my area about everytime I go hunting. They check all the strange vehicles, wave to the locals and long about lunch they'll be near your vehicles as your walking out of the woods. Their big push is on safety (blaze orange, no alcohol or drugs, legal firearms, etc).
I've seen them get down right unpleasant when they encountered a hunter with a beer in one hand and a rifle in the other hand. Last I saw of him, he was still cussing in a cuffed position in their vehicle...think he missed the rest of the season...but everyone else got the message.

I have been checked twice in 16 years. The first time I had a brand new gun that I patterned and did not even check that it did not have a plug in it. I was hunting illegally. I told the GW that the gun was only 3 days old and I just shot it one day and never tried to put more then 3 shells in it at a time. He let me go and I went home and got a plug out of another gun until I was able to get one from the store.

I have been checked on lakes and other peoples land. I have yet to see G.W. on one streach of land I own, and on the others I see them all the time. I also have land in Louisianna that I have never seen one on.

Got checked during pheasant season last year for the first time. We were coming out of a ditch and loading the dogs up when he pulled in. We all knew him and he didn't even check licenses or anything just looked at our birds to check age and chatted about hunting conditions. We told him they were short to come by but with a good dog and alot of walking you can find them.
Guess what is article in the paper said the next week Quote "The hunters I talked to told me that there are birds out there if you got a good dog and are willing to walk".[

I too, am a magnet. I have been checked numerous times fishing, a couple of times hunting, but the oddest of all, was when I was bear hunting in the middle of Prince William Sound in Alaska and State Troopers on a boat came up to us to check our licenses. Talk about dedication<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>.
