I'm in Jasper county. It's located just west of Terra Haute, along I-70 then south of Casey, Il. This was the 2nd year I hunted this particular farm, finally putting the pieces together. Only problem I got is the farmers fields are all in picked soybeans, the property just to the north picked corn. The 2nd week of Nov., majority of the deer were in the picked corn along side a crp field for bedding. Supposed to be cold hopefully they are up and moving.

Funny....... I am in Coles Co., near a tiny town called Hutton, just NE of Casey. You must not be too far from Martinsville then either?? We are leasing ground through The Quail Shed, an outfitting operation in the area, but would like to find some different ground next year, if you happen to know of any in the area?? My brother and I hunted for a week with four other guys from MS and LA and there was never a shooter (130"+) buck even seen that entire time, and this was Nov. 7-14th!! We also hunted down there forthree daysjust beforeHalloween with the same results. This is a bow hunting only deal for us and we are not sure if we will be heading back down or not??

The coyotes are thick down in that area too! We would hear them every morning and evening carrying-on......

Mark

I feel your pain, I lost my 1st lease 2yrs ago.So I had to start all over and luckily found my current one. But it's frustrating starting over feltlike I was spinning my wheels trying to figure this new ground out. Ibowhunted from Nov 8- 16 and only saw 2 shooters. One that would have pushed 140" andanother 160. I will keep my ears open, I'm about 1/2hr from Martinsville.

Wow you are about 1 1/2 north of us so it should still be good, I know we got 750 acres with a 150 acre picked corn field but all our deer are on pick beans.. Wellgood luck and shoot straight.. Walt

Well no luck! Saw just one buck before first light through the bino's.Very slow, the deer that I did see where in the corn to the north of mylease. I did however see a 150+ buck 3/4 of a mile to the north one afternoon while driving around the section. Also got a report from another local farmer that the 160 class 10 point that I had an encounter with during the archery season is still alive. So there is hope for next year, my fields will be in corn and should really help to hold the deer. Another year in the books for me in Illinois. Harvested 1 doe and passed 9 different bucks.
