Default Missouri River Breaks Mule deer Hunting

Looking in to a DIY trip to the Breaks fall of 2014, we would take a boat down river between Stafford ferry landing heading towards kipps Recreational area. Would be hunting on the North side, and was wondering about the terrain and animal population. Any info would be appreciated

I've always wanted to do that.

Just don't wait until the end of the season, the river can freeze over.

Don't forget that much of the Breaks along the Missouri is in the CMR and the hunting regulations are administered by the USFWS. Generally the mule deer season is shorter than what is posted in the state regs. Overall deer populations are down considerably in most of Montana. In the news recently FWP announced that they will likely do away with almost all B tags statewide for the next several years to try and bring populations back up.
