I just arrived two days ago. Im going to Cal Poly. I was wondering what kind of hunting oppurtunities are available to me? I know there' s game here, as central california has the largest hog population in CA. I saw two small deer outside of my dorm room on the hillside today too. One day soon I' m going to explore some of the 125 miles of mountain bike trails and try to locate some hog sign.

I have hunted hogs for a few years in Hawaii, mostly with dogs and knife. I know using a knife to poke hogs is illegal here, all hogs must be dispatched with a gun. What are the laws about using dogs to hunt hogs? are there any public hunting units around this part? If anyone lives around here and wouldn' t mind showing me around I would appreciate it alot.

I was at Cal Poly for couple years. Didn' t do any hunting though. I' ve heard that there are lots of hogs around Atascadero (sp?). Try asking around. I doubt that dog is allow. Other than that, drive to the forest between SLO and Santa Barbara. You should be able to find some deers. Happy hunting!

yeah man hog hunting is great up there in central cali. me and my uncles went up to king city and hunted on a couple of farms and shot a couple of hogs.
