Default Montanans ?

Hows your winter going. Were kinda lacks for snow in parts of the southwest corner alot of the snow reports are way low. The Big Hole River I live by has`nt froze completly yet eigther and are lowest temp has only been 15 below. Most of the elk are still up higher than normal because of low snow pac.
I`ve been doing some preditor hunting and have`nt had great luck only 4 yotes and one fox. The ice fishing has been prety good for brookies and brown trout. I have been looking to find some early shed horns but no luck yet.
Have any of you taken the bear identification test yet I have`nt took mine as of yet.

That wife of yours is not ceasing to amaze me Robert!
Sounds like you guys are getting quite a bit more snow down there than we are up here. I wouldn't doubt it if we are around 12" total for the year in Fairbanks. We haven't had a real good dump up north either. No shortage of cold up here though!
Hope to see how your late Sept. weather is this year! <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

The winter's coming along just fine. The elk harvest around here was fair. The whitetails are bunching up thick around town now. We had about 18 inches last week and it has been snowing well for the last two weeks. The sleds are running hard now in the mountains.

Cat hunting was great for those with the time and is now just great to be out , nearly alone finding tracks. I've treed lions, bobcats and even one fisher.

The ice is just on now on the Clark Fork near Thompson. I'm thinking of trying it tonight for pike and bass.

God its beautiful now! Its good to be back in Montana!!

PS. I saw my first pair of coyotes last weekend. I think the mating season is on!!!!! A two for one deal!
