I'm a Colorado resident. I put in for the draw and got my cow and buck tags. I'd like to get a doe tag too. I thought OTC and leftover were the same thing but OTC goes on sale on July 12th and leftover August 9th.
When should I be standing in line for my doe tag?

All deer tags are by drawing only, so you couldn't buy a deer tag OTC, so your only hope would be to get one bought as a left over, meaning that any tag that was left over after all the drawings took place. My guess is that there won't be very many deer tags left over.
Your best bet is to be standing in line at 7 a.m. on Aug. 9th some place that sells big game licenses. All left over tags go on sale at the same time, and the lines can be insane.

Before you waste your time getting up early and dealing with all that read the rules on "list or class" of a licence. Odds are if you have a buck tag for that unit thats a list/class A lic. therefore you could not purchase another left over tag unless it is list B or C..... very few deer are not List A.

Thanks for the heads up. I looked into it and on page 13 of the regs it has the list of type B GMUs and the one I'm hunting is in there, GMU 18 (which includes units 18, 28, 37, 371). So I should be OK....I think.

B tags are almost always private property tags. Are you sure that's not what your looking at? Sometimes you can get a C tag if it's a special tag to control a herd.
I actually have a C tag for does this year. If I could find a leftover A tag I could buy it.
You can't have two A tags for the same species.

I don't see anything in the regs about private property for B. This is copied from the 2011 Big Game PDF.
I take this to mean I can buy a doe tag for unit 18 to add to the buck tag I already have.

Here you can see what's available. After you find what you want. Call the DOW and see if you're eligible. If that works out. See if you can beat everybody else for it.
