Hey everyone. Just wanted to introduce myself. The name is Jessie and I currently reside in Fernley NV. Just started hunting again after about a 14 year lay off lol. Never hunted in Nevada before. Just went through all my safety classes etc. Only hunted in California when I was a teenager so I'm sure Nevada is a lot different. Just wanted to chime in and say hello at least and look forward to picking everyone's brains lol. Any other info you want to know just let me know. Very excited about this season and the other seasons to come.

Good to hear. I hear Nevada is on a lottery system when it comes to tags. Not sure what the means exactly. Can anyone fill me in? Sorry for the dumb question.

You have 5 choices on your tags.

Your app number goes into a computer, which randomly gives it a number.

The numbers of all applicants are then put in order.

The computer starts with the first app and goes down their 5 choices, and continues with each app until all tags are allocated.

If you don't draw, you get a bonus point. They are squared, and you get one for the year you are one. 5 bonus points = 26 random numbers, and you are assigned the lowest number.

With this system, everyone has a chance to draw, no points or 100 points.

Its the low number that counts. Kinda like the guy that buys one raffle ticket and wins vs. the person who spends hundreds on a thousand raffle tickets.

Anyway, thats the short version.

Apps are due in mid April every year!

Good luck and welcome to NV!!

Marcial

Go to www.ndow.org

Click on hunting.

On the right side there is the link for drawing odds and hunt stats. There is also a link on there somewhere that has the regulations, and a unit map somewhere.

All the information you need is there, and there is a ton of it.

Marcial

I'm a nevada hunter. I've put in for tags for two years anyway.:) So I do my big game hunting in WY. Birds and varmints here. I started a new post about the new bear hunt. 20 tags, I heard. I wonder what the odds are on that one.:bash:

Does this same thing hold true for the Desrt Big Horn Sheep and Mountain goat as well? I have some very good friends that live and work around the Elko area and I am goig to start putting in for Deer, Antelope, Big Horn & Mountain Goat this year.. I am looking to put in for likely rifle or Muzzle loader.. With my muzzleloader I can reach out to 350 yards cofortably and maybe 400 yards max.. I am a Non Resident.. Live in Michigan..
