Default Advice on hunting pronghorn in Colorado GMU 88?

I am new to the site and was hoping anyone could help me out with some tips on hunting pronghorn in northeastern Colorado GMU 88. I have never hunted pronghorn before and I am not sure about obtaining a permit for private land through CDOW. Any info would be helpful, thanks.

Unless you already put in your application for pronghorn for 2010 prior to April 7th you are out of luck for this year. the only other way is you can get a landowner voucher or go thru an outfitter who already did.

You would be hunting the eastern half of the Pawnee National grasslands which is state forest and easy terrain to walk or glass. Rolling hills and no trees. There is some private land scattered about it but for the most part it is public. If you have access to that private land, that is where you will find the highest concentration of worthly beasts.

Thanks for replying, I put in for the tag before the deadline, just have to wait and see if i draw. If I do, I plan to ask some of the ranchers out there for permission because I have seen some good watering holes on what I believe is private or leased land. Tried to get a map of that area BLM or plat, but CDOW does not have either. Do you hunt that area?

I grew up in Greeley which is just 30 miles or so south of the PNGrasslands. We hunted GMU 87 which is adjacent to 88 to the west. I know the area very well although I don't know many landowners there. It generally take a few years to draw a buck tag but you may draw a doe. Contact the forest service for maps.
